Terms of Service

Welcome to VanBFF

VanBFF is a community-first platform built exclusively for nomadic van lifers to find friends, dating connections, and builder help on the road. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the VanBFF mobile application and related services (the "Service").

By creating an account or using VanBFF, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility

To use VanBFF, you must:

• Be at least 18 years of age
• Be capable of forming a binding legal agreement
• Not be prohibited from using the Service under applicable law
• Not have been previously removed from VanBFF for violating these Terms

By using VanBFF, you represent and warrant that you meet all eligibility requirements.

2. Invite-Only Access

VanBFF is an invite-only community. Access requires a valid invite code from an existing member or through an approved waitlist entry. This system exists to protect the safety and integrity of our community.

• Invite codes are personal and should only be shared with people you trust to be genuine members of the nomadic community
• You are responsible for the conduct of anyone you invite — sharing invites with bad actors may result in consequences for your account
• Invite codes may expire or be limited in number
• We reserve the right to revoke invite codes and deny waitlist applications at our discretion

3. Your Account

When you create an account, you agree to:

• Provide accurate, current, and complete information
• Maintain the security of your password and account credentials
• Immediately notify us of any unauthorized use of your account
• Not create more than one account per person
• Not transfer or share your account with others

You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. We are not liable for any loss resulting from unauthorized use of your account.

4. Community Standards

VanBFF was built with safety at its core — especially for women and solo travelers in the nomadic community. All members are expected to uphold the following standards:

Be Genuine

• Use your real name and authentic photos
• Accurately represent your lifestyle, intentions, and van life experience
• Complete verification steps to build trust within the community

Be Respectful

• Treat every member with dignity and respect
• Respect boundaries — if someone is not interested, accept it gracefully
• Do not harass, stalk, threaten, or intimidate other members
• Do not discriminate against others based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or any other protected characteristic

Keep the Community Safe

• Do not share other members' personal information without their consent
• Report concerning behavior immediately
• Do not use VanBFF for any illegal activity
• Do not solicit other members for unauthorized commercial purposes

5. User Verification

VanBFF offers a verification system to help members identify trusted community members. Verification may include:

• Email and phone number verification
• Social media account linking (when available)
• Additional identity verification methods as they become available

Verification badges indicate that a member has completed specific verification steps. They do not constitute a background check, endorsement, or guarantee of a member's identity, character, or intentions. Always exercise your own judgment when meeting anyone in person.

6. Builder Help Marketplace

VanBFF may include a marketplace feature where members can offer and request paid assistance with van building, repairs, and maintenance ("Builder Help").

• Builder Help transactions are between individual members — VanBFF is not a party to these transactions
• VanBFF may charge a service fee (commission) on Builder Help transactions
• Builders are independent individuals, not employees or contractors of VanBFF
• We do not guarantee the quality, safety, or outcome of any Builder Help services
• Both parties are responsible for agreeing on scope, pricing, and expectations before beginning work

7. Subscriptions & Payments

VanBFF may offer premium features through subscriptions or in-app purchases, managed through our payment processing partner.

• Subscription pricing and features will be clearly displayed before purchase
• Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled before the renewal date
• You can manage or cancel subscriptions through your device's app store settings (Apple App Store or Google Play Store)
• Refunds are handled according to the policies of the applicable app store
• We reserve the right to change subscription pricing with reasonable notice

8. Your Content

You retain ownership of all content you create and share on VanBFF (photos, bio, messages, profile information). By using the Service, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, display, and distribute your content solely for the purpose of operating and improving the Service.

• You are responsible for the content you share and represent that you have the right to share it
• Do not post content that is illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, or sexually explicit
• Do not post content that infringes on the intellectual property rights of others
• We reserve the right to remove content that violates these Terms without notice

9. Prohibited Conduct

The following activities are strictly prohibited and may result in immediate account termination:

• Creating fake or misleading profiles
• Impersonating another person
• Harassing, threatening, or abusing other members
• Using the Service for spam, solicitation, or unauthorized advertising
• Attempting to circumvent the invite-only system or security features
• Scraping, data mining, or using automated tools to access the Service
• Interfering with the operation of the Service or other members' use
• Using VanBFF for any illegal purpose

10. Account Suspension & Termination

We may suspend or permanently terminate your account if:

• You violate these Terms or our Community Standards
• We receive credible reports of harmful behavior
• We believe your account poses a risk to the safety of other members
• Your account has been inactive for an extended period
• We are required to do so by law

You may delete your account at any time by contacting us. Upon deletion, your profile will be removed from the Service, subject to our data retention practices described in our Privacy Policy.

11. Disclaimers

VanBFF is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied.

• We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure
• We do not guarantee matches, connections, or outcomes from using the Service
• We do not conduct background checks on members — verification badges are not a substitute for personal judgment and caution
• We are not responsible for the actions, behavior, or conduct of any member, whether online or offline

Always prioritize your personal safety when meeting anyone from the internet, especially in remote locations.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, VanBFF and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the Service. This includes, but is not limited to, damages for loss of data, loss of profits, personal injury, or property damage.

Our total liability for any claim arising from the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $100 USD, whichever is greater.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless VanBFF and its operators from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of another person.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the Service or by email. Your continued use of VanBFF after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

If you do not agree with updated Terms, you should stop using the Service and contact us to delete your account.

15. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be resolved in the courts of California.
